• tips on searching sites such as Family Search for South African ancestors
• what information is contained in the various online records
• obtaining BMD information prior to 1895 (when civil registration started in South Africa)
Our speaker: Sue Mackay
Sue Mackay descends from three of the 1820 settlers to the Cape of Good Hope, and has spent many years transcribing extracts from 19th century South African newspapers held at Kew and the British Library. She runs the 1820 and newspaper transcription sections of the eGGSA website.
